“The Duchess”: Or Cold Apple Pie

by The Duchess @ Fri, 26 Sep 2008 09:09:42 +0100
Okay, that hair is consuming...got me there. matchless love apple pie, especially with ice cream that drizzles depressed the side. You look at it, imagine how mouth-watering it manque, then imagine the pie silent quick. Now walk across the room and see another apple pie, no ice cream, you bite in and it’s cold…laced halfhearted…and somehow,[ even ]though you love apple pie, it’s underwhelming. That’s how[ i ]felt while watching The Duchess, somehow cheated by what it could have been.[ i ]felt…underwhelmed. The fantastic Ki

Keira Knightley este Ducesa - The Official Trailer

Get The Look Of: The Duchess Movie
retentive before the concept existed, the Duchess of Devonshire, Georgiana Spencer, was the original "It Girl." Played by Keira Knightley in the newfangled movie The Duchess, the gorgeous costumes in the film have us craving 18th Century Style: ruffles, lace, rosettes and romance. Here are some of our favored pieces that perfectly blend the look with a Modern sensibility:

Get the Look: “The Duchess” 18th Century Fashion and Makeup Trends
Q: How can[ i ]copy Keira Knightley’s makeup and clothes from “The Duchess?” How can[ i ]fit the 18th century “Georgiana” style into my fall wardrobe? A: The answer is yes, yes and yes! In the alike way that Kate Winslet’s “Titanic” wardrobe and Kirsten Dunst’s “Marie Antoinette” period costumes mirrored current trends, Kiera Knightley’s look from “The Duchess” is also correct on track with current styles. all right, so bustles, rib crushing corsets and sausage curls may never come back into the mainstream,

Peter Davis' Status Update: The Duchess Dude
That (snoozy) period piece The Duchess is all about Keira's madhatter haute-fashion. To celebrate the film's premier, The aureate Group, Christian Leone and Chicago's society swanettes -- Kate Fitzgerald, Susu Block and Alexis Maybank -- recently held a screening and party at the James Hotel. But it was this ace fashionable boy, Jared Craft, who stole the scene. The Duchess would definitely have approved.

A duke is a noble person, historically of highest rank below the King or Queen, and usually controls a duchy or a Dukedom. The title comes from the Latin dux, which had the sense of "military commander" and was employed both by the Germanic peoples themselves and by the Roman authors covering them to refer to their war leaders.

In the Middle Ages the title signified first among the Germanic monarchies. Dukes were the rulers of the provinces and the superiors of the counts in the cities and later, in the feudal monarchies, the highest-ranking peers of the king. There were, however, variants of these meanings and there were even sovereign princes employing ducal titles.

In the Modern Age it has become a nominal rank without an actual principality. It is still the highest titular peerage in France, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Italy.

A woman who holds in her own right the title to such duchy or dukedom, or is the wife of a duke, is normally styled duchess. However, Queen Elizabeth II is known as Duke of Normandy in the Channel Islands and Duke of Lancaster in Lancashire.
